Moonlight
Interlude
The moon is back, and you're asleep
I sit here and write your life
We're now concluding childhood
Coming up on years of strife

We'll write it as it happened
I'll feel the way you felt
And when your children read it
Their hearts and eyes will melt

I've grown to love you through this work
At least your child self
And I'm sure I'll love the young man
All the life and times he felt

And soon I'll meet the older you
The one with the regrets
And I will probably love him too
But we don't know that yet

Minutes of my evening
Moments out of time
And I pour out my heart to you
In a tiny bit of rhyme
